Happy Birthday & Happy Halloween

Yesterday we celebrated Charlie's 2nd Birthday. Emily even came up to spend the night with us so she could join the party. Happy Birthday Charlie!!

.

Happy Halloween Everyone. We are enjoying a day of nothing except watching football (not our team) on our new TV. We spent last night at "game night" at our friends the McG's house. It was fun! Hopefully we will go get some yummy fast food here in a minute. Nothing beats a lazy Saturday.

Hump Day

I never really understood why people called Wednesday "Hump Day" until I started working full time. I swear I have a new abundance of energy Thursday morning just knowing that we are over Wednesday. Today was a typical Wednesday at work...LONG!

As for the Thomas family we are doing great. We upgraded TV's recently and are getting HD and DVR tomorrow. I am so excited. I've been begging Brent for DVR for as long as I've known him. I had it in college and it's been a rough 2 years without! Maybe Brent and I will get back in the gym once it's all set up and our favorite shows are being recorded. I've noticed that "wedded bliss" sure can add a few lbs. We are kinda like that nursery rhyme "Jack Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no lean..." Metabolism changes are not fair!

As for tonight there are a few exciting things going on in our house. 1. Brent has lost his phone, no idea where he put it.. and it's on silent. 2. Leftovers are on the menu (Brent made some really good chicken and rice soup last night.) 3. Dentist appointment in the morning and Brent's got the full day off. Let's just make it until 5pm on Friday.

One last Question: Any thoughts on a couples Halloween Last Minute Costume? We may be attending a Halloween party Friday night but we just found out today and are costume-less.

Organization

Is there something about getting married that makes you want to organize your house? I'm feeling this in spurts. I went crazy and decided to organize our downstairs (should be for coats) closet. It's now a storage room for extra kitchen things. The one downfall of our town home is the lack of storage in the kitchen/ dining area. I've completely run out of room! My next organization project is my girly things.. ex: stationary, markers, stamps, tape, you name it. I bought two plastic boxes at wal-mart and am beginning to make some progress. I have a desk upstairs but who really keeps things in those drawers? I'm always too lazy to go upstairs and get what I need. I'm sure the new storage shelves in the closet downstairs will have room for my box of goodies.

Charlie is running crazy laps around the living room as I'm typing this. I'm not sure why he gets so wound up around 8pm. The silly dog sleeps all day then plays all night. Brent's upstairs cleaning for the company we have coming to stay this weekend. It's going to be a busy one- We are heading to Cullman Friday after work for a wedding tool/gadget shower then to Tuscaloosa Saturday for the game. Brent just asked what I'm doing and when he saw blogging he said "I'll blog you." Not sure what that means but it sounds like code for "Come Clean Now" so I'm off. Will post more Thomas family pictures soon!

Random Question, help needed...

Has anyone ever noticed a slimy bug in their kitchen sink? I call it a "catfish" bug because it has whiskers and looks a bit like a fish. Needless to say I have seen four of them in the past 2 months and am starting to freak out! I googled the bug last night and it is officially called a "Silverfish". It's disgusting. The postings say they live in damp places so finding them in our sink makes perfect sense. If you have ever had these please tell me how you got rid of them. I am begging Brent to call a pest control company but he doesn't see the big deal if it's only 4 bugs. He just kills them and keeps moving- I whine, kill them, then get really grossed out. Google it if you want to see a picture.. it's disgusting!

Finally Fall

Another great weekend in the books for our little family. We spent yesterday watching football games all day long. Charlie was a good sport again. I think he likes it when we stay home instead of actually going to the game or to tailgate. He wore his jersey and cheered on the Tide with his dad. Yes, Brent will kill me when he reads that sentence... he will say "HE is a dog." and yes, he is a dog... but he is also one of my best friends. I don't know what I'd do without that little guy. Sunday was also a good day. We went to church and then to eat lunch at Jim n' Nicks. After lunch we went and bought a pumpkin. I have no intention of carving it, I just want to sit it on our front porch. After that I was off to Arab to Jessica's first shower. She got some really great things. I LOVE her everyday Christmas dishes. I may have to look into investing in a few pieces myself. After the shower I was able to meet Brent and his parents at the Assisted Living facility where his grandmother stays. It was nice to see her. I know she gets lonely there and it makes her day when family is able to stop by. Prior to meeting Brent I made a fabulous purchase: A bale of hay and two mums... all for $16.96! The only issue was that I had no idea bugs like to live in damp bales of hay (is that even how you spell that?) Brent's mom looked at my goodies and bugs began to fly every where. I hate bugs- I don't do well with nats and they were swarming all around the back of the 4Runner. Brent took care of the situation once I got home. He cleared out the car and sucked all the bugs out with the shopvac. What a great husband! Being the dog obsessed "mom" that I am I then had Charlie pose on our front porch. What a great Weekend!

Road Trip, Roll Tide

Well we have officially knocked Commonwealth Stadium off our list of SEC places to watch an Alabama football game. The fans were...okay, but definitely not as nice as the people who worked at the local Skyline Chili or at the Great American Ballpark (home of the Reds). I'm glad there was only one crazy CAT fan in our area. (Thanks Candice for keeping us in a good section!) The trip was interesting though- Apparently Coach Saban and his wife were on our floor at the Hyatt because Saturday morning when I walked out of the room to go to breakfast I ran into Mrs. Saban coming out of her room and down the hall. How nice, now I wonder if they called the noise complaint on our friends who were 3 rooms down from us. How funny would that be? We also saw the team load the buses while eating our breakfast in the hotel lobby restaurant. I like staying at the same hotel as the team and all of the Alabama fans. I was able to catch up on my sleep though because I went to bed early each night while Brent went out with the boys. Note to all you other girlfriends/ wives... come on road trips-- I could use a shopping buddy!
