Good Saturday

Today was a good day. We bought our new bed and mattress! We have the bed but will not have the mattress until Monday. Thank goodness we have a guest room! I also got to see my family in Hartselle today. I took Charlie to Memaw & Papaw's so he can visit while we are in Mexico. He was excited. I then went by Grandpa & Grandmother Carol's. I helped her with their blog and then headed back to Birmingham. Emily & I have really been wanting a pair of Reebok Easytones. I know they may not do all that the commercials say but what the heck... why not have a pair and see if they really work your rear & legs while walking around and exercising? Only problem: they are IMPOSSIBLE to find. I started searching earlier this week and the only pairs I found were solid white with silver or solid black. Not a fan of either of those. Well today I called Foot Locker at the Galleria and guess what...they had PURPLE! I'd never saw a pair with purple but I like purple... My bridesmaids wore purple... Surely purple shoes would be nice. I went to the Galleria on my way home and guess who now owns a pair of Easytones... Me & Emily! I had to buy her a pair because I knew how hard of a time she was having as well on locating them.

Let's see if we walk our way into better shape in 2010! I will keep you all posted on my workout progress...

As I'm typing this Brent is working on our huge red Chloraseptic Throat Spray stain in the hallway. Grandmother Carol had a Bissell Spot Bot and he is putting it to the test. Hopefully it will remove the stain and save me the $$$ on Stanley Steamer.

Up next for tomorrow: Church, Lunch with the Thomas's and then packing.

Have a Happy Sunday!

Ready for Friday

Tomorrow night we are going to dinner and a movie with our good friends Zeb & Jana. I hope we go to Firebird's but I think Brent wants Cajun Steamer. Anyways I'm sitting here pestering Brent as he is paying bills and I said "Look, only 14 images come up when I google Zebariah Lee" (our friend...don't ask me why I googled him..I guess I'm that bored!) so I clicked over to the "WEB" tab of google and look what was right in front of me. How funny! But man we look GOOD in that picture.. kidding.

My friend Jessica is moving to the five points area of Huntsville next week with her new Husband & little dog Sawyer. The picture below shows what passed over their neighborhood tonight! Thank Goodness they haven't moved in yet. My grandmother called me 3 times to make sure they were okay. Sad thing is I had no idea there was even a tornado in that area. I need to watch the news!

This brings me back to a childhood memory of a tornado hitting Huntsville when I was a little girl. I remember that my dad was not at home. It was just me, my mom and my baby sister (literally a baby). I was so scared. I didn't really understand everything but I could sense how tense the house was. This single event made me afraid of the Wizard of Oz for several years to come. I still do not like the tornado section of that movie nor tornado warnings in real life. My college years in Tuscaloosa brought on many tornado warnings. My dad would always call and say "Go to the sorority house" and sure enough we'd all pile in and watch James Spann. Needless to say I get very antsy when the weather looks rough. I'm just glad today's tornado didn't cause too much damage and that my best friend hadn't moved in yet to go thru the storm.

Have a Fabulous Friday... I swear this work week can't end fast enough.

Future Prisoner

It's official. Starting on Friday Charlie will be in a kennel while we are at work. I've found a woman on Craigslist who is selling a kennel that her Lab outgrew. I believe the kennel is going to be just like his current kennel only larger. We will find out tomorrow when I meet her with $50. I did see a kennel of the same dimensions today and it was $90. Look at me saving money!!

I feel bad but we can't keep replacing things around the house. We will be purchasing our new bed soon and Charlie cannot leave his lovely teeth marks on it like he did to our current bed.

Here's a minor list of things we will be repairing once Charlie enters the crate:

1. A door frame in the kitchen
2. Two window seals...1 in the kitchen, 1 in the bedroom
3. Stanley Steamer will be coming to clean our carpet
4. A dining room table chair leg will need to be sanded/painted back to black
5. Minor cabinet repair work in the kitchen

Even after all that I wouldn't trade him for the world...

A Few Good Links

If you're a fan of Alabama Football you must watch this video: Pre-Texas Motivational. I stumbled across it yesterday and I thought I'd share it with you guys.

A bit of family fun can be seen here. I have no idea whose idea this was but my gut tells me Emily & Wes had something to do with it. Who knew Dad & Lori were such great dancers?

Other than that Sunday went something like this: 9:30 service at Church of the Highlands, Lunch at Wings so we could watch the Vikings game, a trip to Costco to purchase all the bulk essentials, swinging by Rooms to Go to catch up with Jess & Michael and meet the little man, then on to the furniture market in Calera to scout out the new purchases we hope to make this year, catch up time with the Thomas family, Brent hitting Wal-Mart up alone because I crashed on the couch, a frozen pizza for dinner and now Brent's paying bills and I'm writing this blog. What a day.

As for the furniture, here is the bed we will hopefully purchase soon. Brent has a complete bedroom set of black Broyhill. The only problem is the bed. We want a King Size instead of queen. Finding black furniture has been hard. I originally wanted a Sleigh Bed but those in black are as rare as Zebra's in Alabama. I think this poster will look nice. I think it has a bit of an antique feel. Brent also priced the dresser/mirror that goes with it. I would LOVE to have that piece because I have ZERO drawer space (well I have 2 drawers to Brent's 5) I guess since he lived here first he has full drawer rights. I'm not sure if the dresser will fit in our room. We currently have the bed, 2 nightstands, chester drawer & TV Armoire. It may be cramped!

Once we have the new bed we will be able to use the bedding I purchased with Pottery Barn Gift Cards we received at the wedding. I already had a King Size down comforter so all we needed was the duvet & shams. We registered and received 2 sets of King Size white sheets at one of our wedding showers. I think the only things I still need to purchase are throw pillows and a pretty quilt to fold along the bottom of the bed. If you have a suggestion of which color to pull from the spread and use please let me know! I need all the interior decorating help I can get.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. It seems like they fly by faster and faster each time. And for all you lucky "It's MLK JR. Day so I have the day off" people, I'm jealous. You can find me at the hospital tomorrow. No holiday day off here :)

Friday Night Laugh

I'm sure you've seen it. If not, you've at least heard about him. Here he is: General Larry Platt!
All you people in Atlanta better buy a belt or Larry will get you!

I'm also stunned by Heidi Montag's obsession with plastic surgery. I knew she was strange but 10 surgeries in 1 day is just unheard of and seriously disgusting.

I also want to share this photo I found on Facebook. The trophy looks fantastic in the window of the football facility. I hope the rest of the SEC doesn't throw rocks at our window!

Charlie's New "Do"

Charlie got a long overdue haircut today. He spent Thursday getting pampered and primped at Polly's Pet Parlor. I'm not sure if he enjoyed it or not but he sure looks cute. We started our day off by sitting in traffic on Hwy 280 for 40 minutes. Anybody who knows Charlie knows that when he gets in the car he automatically thinks that he is going to Memaw's. Once his little brain realized we weren't going to Memaw's he got nervous and started dry heaving. I had to throw him into the passenger floorboard and pray that he didn't puke. Luckily, he did not. Since he is boycotting his new dog food (Thanks Brent for buying big bites rather than small bites...) he no longer eats until he is absolutely starving. Just like a kid! We finally arrived at Polly's and I was 30 minutes late for work. When I picked him up he was so happy to see me. His hair is pretty short so I decided to buy him a new sweater to help keep him warm. We had to go to two different stores before we found one that he liked. He's so picky... but such a handsome & loving boy!

Hollywood & Santa Monica

Part two of the BCS Championship Trip Blog: We went to Hollywood and Santa Monica on Friday. It was fun. I did not expect Hollywood to be like it was. I was thinking "Glamour". It's not dirty or gross... just not what I expected it. We checked out The Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese Theater, The Kodak Theater and tons of other sights on our Bus tour. We saw the Hotel where they filmed Pretty Woman: The Beverly Wilshire, Beverly Hills, Rodeo & Sunset Drives... you name it, we probably saw it. Brent liked to call Rodeo Drive "Ro-de-o" just like the ones cows and bull riders are at. We ended the day by going to Santa Monica. I am really glad we went there. Besides the game it was my favorite part of California.

Thanks Brent for the $12 Dollar Picture!

We had a great time. I can't believe it's been a week since we went out West. I wish we could have stayed longer and saw more of California. Hopefully one day we will go to wine country and maybe San Francisco.

National Championship Game

I'm going to break our trip down into sections. Today I'll discuss the ball game. We had a great time. Getting to the Rose Bowl was easy (transportation). We took a subway then an above ground metro. Once we got to Pasadena we explored areas around the stadium and decided to go in the ESPN tailgate because the Alumni tailgate was sold out (so we heard). It was fun. It cost $25 a person but you did get a few free things. Click these links to see our photos: Coaches Trophy & Rose Bowl. I took a ton of photos. I was able to get my SLR camera into the game. The security guy questioned me about the empty plastic souvenir cups I had in my bag. We wanted reminders of the tailgate party! We actually thought the cups inside the game would be different but they weren't. SEC game definitely had better logo/ designs on the cups. They were a great distraction to the security guard so it worked and my camera and I made it into the stadium.

The game was great. I was a bit let down because I expected us to dominate like we did against Florida. I guess the perfect game only comes together once each season. When we threw the interception on the fake punt I got really nervous. I'm now down to 4 fingernails. So much for that new years resolution. Can I start over today?

Brent was cool, calm & collected the entire time. He knew once McCoy went out that our defense would hold strong. We sat next to a nice Bama couple from Atlanta. They chose to go on the Championship trip rather than a cruise. She was intense. She yelled more than Brent & I combined.

It felt great to be in the stadium and see the Tide bring home #13. Brent says that will be the only National Championship game we ever attend. I hate to break it to him but I may start saving pennies in hopes of going to another one in the future. We've since re-watched the game on tv. Not too much to see! But I can definitely say it was worth it; Let's just hope it's not another 17 years before the University of Alabama brings home another title.
