Date Weekend

Brent and I had a great time at the "ignite" marriage conference at our church. We were able to hear great speakers and gain a lot of insight on how to get the most out of our marriage and our relationship with the Lord. We even had a great date night last night. We ate at Mugshots and went bowling. I'm glad to report that I won both games. Here's a photo of the scoreboard after game #1:

Video Clip

Here's a short video recap of our day at Little River Canyon.
(Click the arrows next to the word "vimeo" to make it appear larger on your screen)

I'm glad I can share my videos but I hate that the quality of my photos diminishes so in the process :(

Little River Canyon

We took a day trip adventure to Little River Canyon today. It was such a nice day that and we didn't want to waste it sitting inside the house. We walked to the falls and then Brent decided to take us down to the bottom of the falls. This was trickier than it looked. At one point we were dangling Charlie down between two rocks to lower him from my level to the level Brent was on down below. I was a nervous wreck! We made it down, took some photos, then started the hike back up to the look-out platform. I hope you enjoy the pictures...

I had fun playing around with my camera settings. At one point I looked around and Brent & Charlie were gone. I stood on the platform, walked to the car, and then got really scared that they'd left me. About 15 minutes later they came back looking for me. Apparently they'd decided to go ahead and walk the trail. I had no idea... nice job boys.
Charlie did so good on his leash. I was worried he'd heave himself off the side of the cliff.
Making Brent take pictures for me.
It's a good day to be a dog!
Charlie: "Are you sure about this dad?"
One last photo of the waterfall

It's so nice to go and explore things like this in Alabama. I hope that Brent and I take more time this year to do things like this. I feel like a tired kid that played outside all day. I know I'll be achey come this time tomorrow due to our hike. Charlie should sleep like a rock now that he's had an adventure filled day topped off with a warm bath.

Missing in Action

Sorry I've been MIA lately on the blog. Things have been going good just haven't had time to sit down and write (or much to blog about for that matter). Last Friday we went to the Brad Paisley concert. He and Darius Rucker both were great performers. I wasn't that impressed with Jerrod Neiman (sp?). I like 2 of his songs but the rest just got on my nerves. He tried to hard and most of his jokes were not appropriate for the crowd. I know you can't believe it but I did NOT take a camera. How sad... We had really great seats and if I'd taken it I could have gotten some awesome shots of both Brad & Darius. Darius Rucker used to be the main man for Hootie & the Blowfish. He sang several of their songs and ended his set with "Purple Rain". I made a video of that on my iphone so I'll try to upload it sometime soon to share. Brad Paisley was a great entertainer so if you haven't seen his show I highly recommend it.

The weather here has been fantastic. I'm looking forward to a sunshine filled weekend. I took Charlie on a walk last Saturday and he was so happy. I swear he'd be an outside dog if we let him.

Valentine's day was great. Brent got me an HD FlipVid camera. I have been trying to make videos of Charlie doing his tricks but he always runs to me and I end up filming more of my leg than him. Hopefully Brent will give the commands and let me film pretty soon. We had dinner at Cocina Superior and pigged out on cheese dip. I believe that is my all time favorite date night restaurant.

Well I'm off to attempt to make a slideshow of Eliza & Tim's engagement shoot. I'm so excited that my sister and I will be shooting their wedding in May. I can't wait to use my new flip vid to incorporate some getting ready snippets in the DVD we will make of their big day.

Happy Friday Eve!

Grammie's Christmas

So yes, I am officially 2 months late but I wanted to share a few photos from Christmas at Grammie's this past year. Grammie was preparing to leave for big trip to the Holy Land so Christmas was a good time to catch up before she went on a life changing adventure. The majority of the night was spent stuffing our faces and working on the puzzle games Grammie gave as the contest gift this year. I believe Uncle Tom won the contest. Brent's puzzle has yet to be solved. I swear it's impossible.

Christmas Eve night was so fun. I always love visiting Grammie's and eating all the finger foods she does for the Christmas meal. Two more Christmas posts to come... stay tuned :)

Snowing....finally

We have a dusting of snow! More than we got in the "winter blizzard" of 2011. Brent's already been delayed to a 10am start time for work tomorrow. Fingers crossed that I get to join him. Will blog more later. Too lazy to write :(

sick me

well yesterday I took time out of my work day to visit a ENT doctor in my building. Turns out I have a sinus infection. My body was achey and all I wanted to do was sleep. I recently woke up from a 15+ hour nap. I was in bed by the time Brent got home from work yesterday and just got up around 10 this morning. Brent and Charlie are great nurses. Brent kept me hydrated and Charlie kept me warm by snuggling. I'm feeling better. I now have two doses of my medicine in me and will continue to take it easy all day to ensure that I'm up and running tomorrow for church. It's the tenth anniversary for Church of the Highlands and I refuse to miss the service. Hope everyone has a good Saturday. Let's be sure to watch the Tide roll on Tennessee tonight in b'ball.

Selvatica Adventure

Normally Brent considers me the most boring person on the planet. However, this past trip to Cancun I convinced him to do the "Zip Line / ATV" adventure. We spent Friday zipping around on 12 zip lines, riding ATV's and swinging off a rope into a lagoon. I basically packed more adventure in one day than the previous 4 years he's known me. Here are a few pictures...

not a fan of the bird claws
woo hoo
Brent laid back relaxing
my arm was killing me the next few days
serious face on the atv
Brent kept giving peace signs to the camera guys
pretty lagoon we went to after the atv ride
Brent falling towards the water

Brent did not get a photo of me falling into the water because I told him I wouldn't do it. I then decided I couldn't be a chicken forever and grabbed the handlebars and crashed (home alone) style into the lagoon. I kept thinking the robbers were after me and I needed to crash into the treehouse just like Kevin! Brent was in the water when I yelled at him from the platform that I was coming in. He responded with "Watch you top!!" which then led every person in the lagoon to stare at me. I had to grab and cover prior to hitting the water. It wasn't the funnest thing I've ever done (I hate heights) but I'm glad to say I did it.

Check out Selvatica online.. it was awesome!

We had a good time. We ate... like Kings. This week has been food detox for both of us. Brent's still been hitting the gym but I only made it one day so far this week. Vacation always makes me dream of the next time we travel. Hopefully we will plan our next adventure soon.

FYI: once the big 52" flatscreen is paid off on my no interest HHGregg card you better believe I'm investing in a new small "purse" type camera. Canon Elph... I'm done. You're pictures have once again proved to be blurry.
